feature of the week: darksidesoap

"What hath hell wrought? We’re not entirely sure what happened here, but from the moment this batch started swirling around in the cauldron, we knew something unholy was going on. The color is pure black, as black as your soul…and if you look closely, you can see subtle sneaky hints of red in each bar.
This soap sits in a separate corner of the lab, the other soaps don’t want to go anywhere near it. The rich Matcha Tea scent is said to be mood enhancing, but here at the lab, we genuinely fear finding out which mood will actually be enhanced. These are BIG bars...each one weighs about 6 oz.

Here’s the skinny…

All Darkside Soaps are made using the Cold Process method and cured for a minimum of 4 weeks to ensure a gentle, hard, long-lasting bar.

What’s included?:
You are purchasing one bar of soap, at least 4 oz in size, but since they’re cut in the dark, the actual weight will be closer to 5 oz or 6 oz. These are big bars of soap, with clean finished edges.
Soap will arrive wrapped in a Darkside Soap band. Business card, small print-out of soap description text & free sticker included.

Scent:
Matcha tea
Colors:
Black - may possibly discolor light colored wash cloths. This will not stain skin or affect cleaning abilities. Use of this product may turn your shower into a portal straight to the deepest reaches of hell.
Ingredients:
Coconut oil, Olive Oil, sodium hydroxide, premium colors & fragrance" ~darksidesoap

beautiful bats

i must admit, being as old as i am, i never knew much about bats until the past few days. (shame on me!!!) reading about them have expanded my knowledge. i was never scared of them nor thought they were harmful except i did have the impression of them being evil, i wonder how.... that was the main reason i had to find out more. i found a site, batworld.org, which provided a whole lot of info about bats. check it out here.

"Bats are among the most beautiful and gentle animals on earth. They are vital to the ecosystem and enhance our lives in many ways. Insect eating bats eat millions of bugs nightly, and fruit bats bring us approximately 450 commercial products. Yet for all they do, bats are continually killed due to myths, superstition and fear. The life expectancy of a single bat exceeds 20 years, but slow birth rates limit their population growth. When just 5 bats are needlessly killed, a potential 100 years of animal life is destroyed." ~batworld.org
my perspectives on bats have turned 360 degree, i've added batworld to my blog under "what matters". there is nothing scary or evil about bats. they are almost as cute looking as hamsters!!! this so called "dark" side, "dark" world, is nothing but subjective.

brad pitt - exclusive fotos of brad pitt on parade.com

his good looks is a blessing for the human eyes. he's talent as an artist is evident. but it is his heart that really makes me admire him. what he does for humanity and his family...a man with all virtues does exist, but only in that .0000000000000000000001%!

inside the private world of brad pitt...this whole article can be found her
e. i've only attached the photos and quotes by brad pitt below!

"I don't know who or what is meant to be in my life, but this is certainly where I want to be. Here with them. I think this is the pinnacle. Even as I'm bound to this thing, in a way I'm freer than I've ever been."

"I have love in my life, a soul mate--absolutely. When someone asked me why Angie and I don't get married, I replied, 'Maybe we'll get married when it's legal for everyone else.'"

"Do you know how you tell real love? It's when someone else's interest trumps your own. I like to put it that way: trumps your own. Love of somebody else--of family, of your kids--becomes the most important, most worthwhile thing in your life."

"My life has been about big changes. It's always been that way. When I go down a path, I take it to the end. Then I take another one. I took the path of not having kids--now it's time for family."

"Our family is the base that gives Angie and me the long tether to go out and do all these other things. It's a big step we've taken. We've put down roots together. As Angie and I carve out our time as a couple, we carve out our lives as individuals."

"Would it bother me if a child of mine turns out to be gay? No, not one bit. Listen, I want my kids to live the lives they want to live. I want them to be fulfilled. I hope I teach my kids to be who they really are."

"When you're out in public, you're always on, and you've got to keep moving like a shark. Otherwise, if you stop, you draw a crowd and you have to sign autographs and do photos. I needed to get done with all that. So I moved as far away from that as I could."

"As I've gotten older I've become aware that time is fleeting. I don't want to waste whatever I have left. I want to spend it with the people I love, and I want to do things that really mean something."

feature of the week: beanbun

"rising sun red green tattoo black market tote
bag purse"

"a brand new style! black market is my roomiest over-the-shoulder bag, perfect to take shopping. this one is made with alexander henry japanese tattoo print fabric, gathered to the red canvas yoke at the top of the bag. the twin straps are double fold and serged on the edges, then tied at the top for a more casual look. i trimmed both straps with a cute red bow on the front. interior pocket for small items.

care instructions: i have no doubt this bag would stand up to a good washing, however i am not so sure the dyes would not run. best cleaning method would be to occasionally wipe down with a warm cloth and spot treat as needed.

measurements:

width: 14"
height: 14"
depth: 4"
strap: adjustable

one of a kind, serged and topstitched to last! this bag is super sturdy and fully lined! all warning label items come with a genuine warning label on the interior pocket and a hang tag, so you can be sure your item is an original." ~beanbun

dynamite baked mussels

after defrosting...they came all the way from new zealand!

usually, i bake a dozen at a time and have my babies eat them with rice if they like. it is extremely quick and easy to make! i also have served these as hor'd oeuvres at dinner parties.

i promise, you will no longer have to spend $10 for only 2 pieces at a sushi restaurant!

what you will need:
2 dozen new zealand green lip mussels (frozen or alive)
a pinch of hon dashi pellets
3/4 cup kewpie mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of masago (smelt roe)
chopped green onions
scissors

directions:
pre-heat your broiler or toaster oven to 350 degrees.

if using live mussels, cover and steam in a basket or colander over boiling water just until the mussels pop open (chuck any that remain closed; they're dead). then take them off the heat immediately. throw away the extra shells and arrange the mussels on the half shell, meat side up, on a foil-lined baking pan.
use scissors to cut the mussels into smaller pieces for easier eating later!

do not use a cookie sheet because there will be escaping juices.

if you are using frozen mussels (which are usually pre-cooked), simply arrange the mussels in the same way on the baking pan. the mussels will defrost slightly while you put the sauce together. (use scissors to cut the mussels into smaller pieces for easier eating later!)

for the sauce, first drop a pinch of the hon dashi pellets into a bowl, add kewpie mayo, and masago. combine the mixture with a spoon until smooth.

then spoon the sauce over each mussel and put just enough to cover each completely.

place the mussels under the broiler or toaster oven to cook.

check frequently and rotate the pan occasionally to even out the browning and compensate for hot spots. cook until the sauce bubbles and gets golden brown with a few dark spots forming. it takes approximately 15 minutes for the cooking time and not more.

add a little of the chopped green onions on each then serve immediately!

enjoy!

i forgot to take a photo of chopped green onions on top!

limited pieces - new designs

right after the sample pieces i did last week, i decided to design about half of a dozen pieces which are limited, very limited, 1-4 pieces. so they are very one of a kind! i also used gunmetal chains and findings, and i love that look! when i design these pieces, it is not finished until i "feel" i would wear them...of course depending on the occasion! so i love all of these!!! enjoy :)

new necklace designs...

it's been a very slow week for me physically. i caught some kind of cold or flu but it went in and out. meanwhile, earlier this week, i was commissioned to design some sample pieces similar to my "elite" series and some other pieces...

the photos below are the 9 new designs out of the 12 designs i end up showing to the potential customer. i didn't want to show an entire line of something i already had. it was also to give myself a reason to feel alive...i can't really put it in words...but i'm glad i did it. many of these are one of a kind, there are a few designs which i may put in my esty shops since i already have them photographed but they will really be a piece of so up for grabs!

i will update with names soon. enjoy what i came up with in about 48 hours!
